Volunteer Information

Metro Catholic Outreach depends on the hard work of many dedicated volunteers.  If you are interested in volunteering, please see our areas of need and complete the volunteer registration below.

Reception Desk
During office hours, our reception desk is staffed by volunteers who greet clients, answer phone calls, and make appointments or referrals as necessary.

Food Pantry
Metro Catholic Outreach has a pantry that distributes food to families in need.  The food is collected at all of the parishes in the Cedar Rapids area and transported to the Metro Catholic Outreach pantry for distribution. Volunteers at each parish help to sort and transport the food from their parish to the center. Volunteers also help sort, shelve, pack, and distribute food at the center.

Emergency Financial Assistance
Metro Catholic Outreach provides emergency financial assistance, such as rent and utility assistance, to families in need in our community.  Each week, volunteers meet with clients requesting assistance to determine how we can best serve them.

Garden
Throughout the spring and summer of 2013, volunteers will be needed to help tend the Metro Catholic Outreach garden.  This will include soil preparation, planting, weeding, harvesting, and general garden upkeep.  Additionally, volunteers may be needed to transport produce to the center to be distributed.
